Oaklands

Oaklands is a small, 12 bedroomed centre that specialises in the care of people who are in the late stages of dementia.
Dementia is a progressively debilitating disease which requires different skill sets at its different stages. The person living in an altered reality distorted by confused memories needs an approach that is quite dissimilar to that needed to help reach a person whose dementia is far advanced and whose language skills have all but vanished. Oaklands therefore focusses to a greater extent on multi-sensual experiences. It has a state of the art Snoezelen room that is utilised every day, staff specially trained in end of life care needs, and a commitment to reaching the person within.
