Like all our homes we have Wi-Fi throughout and all resident care plans and notes are updated by our staff throughout the day via tablets and laptop computers. The same Wi-Fi is free to use by all residents and visitors.
The dementia care centre comprises three semi-independent households. These households look to match care and staff abilities to people at different stages of the dementia journey. People living with the dementia in its later stages have needs quite different from those facing the challenges earlier in the disease. Care needs to be more focussed on reaching the person hidden by the disease.
Earlier in the journey people with dementia are often physically very capable and want to be walking and doing and being outside.
The three households at Fairways Newydd therefore have different facilities. The later stage environment has a multi-sensory Snoezelen room while the earlier household has open access to gardens 24/7.
The nursing home area of Fairways Newydd comprises 36, spacious, single rooms. The majority of these rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and all are served by an integrated nurse call system. The lounge is being fully refurbished and now opens onto enclosed gardens and a sunny patio.
